It was once the pastoral home of the Khoi, first used by the Dutch east India Company, for the establishment of a cattle farm in 1670. The area then became a military outpost in 1743 under Sergeant Wynand Muis and was known as Fort Muys and later Muizenberg. The buildings reflect both Edwardian and Victorian styles.Brisk breezes to howling South Easters make windsurfing and kite-flying at Zandvlei a favorite pastime with both locals and visitors. A train ride from Muizenberg to Simon's Town will showcase the picturesque coastline. Hiking in the Muizenberg Mountains is also a popular activity, these walks are accessed from Boyes Drive and the views are awesome.
