Cais do Sodré owes its name to the surname ‘ Sodré’ of a 15th century family with ties to the maritime commerce of the area. After its restoration, which began a few years ago, the whole neighbourhood became one of the most surprising and sought after spots by both tourists and locals.

Take advantage of the proximity of the intermodal Cais do Sodré station by taking a train to the beach – there are several along the Estoril and Cascais coast line – or take the boat if you wish to discover and explore ‘the other coast’ (Cacilhas) and, when returning, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the city from the river.
